I found this book in a small corner of Hodges. I was reluctant at first, as the title looks like a typical “get rich” book and felt like a scam to me.
But it was 19.5 EUR, not a bad investment if I can build something billion-dollar.

Then I ended up enjoying this book so much.
It feels like talking to a dedicated mentor sharing all his experience and lessons.
He walked me through the mindset first: think big – think it’s a billion-dollar app, and then you might achieve it as a 500-million-dollar app. But it’s bloody hard; it’s not as easy as the title suggests.
Then, like a newbie in this industry, I was guided through the basic definitions, industry overview, and the ideas around us.
The book also mentioned some basic user acquisition strategies and tactics. It was published in 2014, and the industry has changed a lot, but the key tactic is still there: let’s get some users first.
Then he gradually walked us through growth and expansion, people management, and financing, which is interesting for someone with a marketing background like me to gain a basic understanding of finance in the app business.
I enjoyed the last part the most, it felt like dedicated advice from your mentor: “Find that idea and hone it, and then find the passion that will take you on your own journey to building something truly great.”
I think this book should be discussed more and I’m willing to be a big advocates
